Photos That Speak

In any photograph, the eyes are the center of any expression, and the eyes are what tell the story. People can say or do anything, but eyes rarely lie. If you study a photo long enough, the eyes will speak to you.

Look at a photo of someone you don't know (preferably one they didn't take themselves by holding the camera in front of their own face and giving a fake smile). Look at the eyes and imagine what the subject is thinking. What is going through this persons mind? What do you think is happening in their life? What are they saying to you, the viewer?

Now remember that feeling you got when the photo spoke to you. Next time you're looking through the LCD screen or viewfinder on your camera, remember to listen to the eyes. When you hear the eyes speak, it's time to press the shutter.
