Failure Is Not An Option

This is not about Apollo 13. This is about how you define success. Where do you see yourself in 5 years and how do you get there?
Staying motivated is one of the most challenging aspects of striving for success. Sometime when business is slow, one may begin to wonder if they've made the right career decision. One way I stay motivated is networking with other photographers. Sharing insights and ideas always helps me to refocus, recalculate, and reinvent.
I also try to keep a list of "plans." If "Plan A" doesn't bring me the results I'm looking for, I switch to "Plan B" and start thinking about "Plan C" and so on. All the while, I get input form others in my field. It's important to also realize that what works for one may not work for another.
Goals have to start small and grow each time they're reached. Each time you've reached your current goal, that can be defined as a "success." Then it's time for the next reachable goal, and so on. Setting goals too high will only result in you saying the F word (failure) to yourself over and over and in time that will eat away at your motivation. Setting reachable goals will give you a series of small but important victories that will bridge the gap to the next goal. Stay with it!
