Rusty's First Minute

Rusty Taco is a converted Just Brakes location on the corner of University & Greenville in Dallas. The owner, Rusty Fenton, is a friend of mine I've known since his days at Trader Vic's.

I was there for the grand opening on April 12th and decided to get some pictures while the sun was still low. I took about 30 shots and decided I liked this one best. After it was edited I checked the meta data and found that it was taken at exactly 7:00:58 AM...the first minute they were open. The first two customers can be seen standing just inside at the counter ordering their breakfast tacos.

Rusty Taco was a huge hit during their first week in business. They actually ran out of food a couple of times and lines sometimes circled the restaurant interior. The wait can be long when it's crowded, but the tacos are quite good and only $2.00.

Love to see a locally owned place doing well. We try to eat local whenever we can, wherever we are. I especially like that it's an existing building re-purposed rather than being torn down and rebuilt the way so many chains do.

Best of luck to Rusty. If I ever find myself in Dallas, I'll be sure to stop by for a taco.
